Safety & Seat Belt Requirements
- Passengers are required to use seat belts where provided and remain properly seated while the vehicle is in motion. Passengers must follow all reasonable safety instructions provided by the driver and must not engage in any activity that could distract the driver, disturb other passengers, or interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle.
Children & Child Restraints
- Kootenay Transit does not provide child car seats or booster seats. Passengers travelling with children are responsible for providing any required child car seat or booster seat, ensuring that it is appropriate for the child, and complying with B.C. Child Passenger Safety requirements.
- Passengers 15 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while travelling with Kootenay Transit.
Passenger Conduct & Right to Refuse Service
- Passengers are expected to behave in a respectful and safe manner while travelling with Kootenay Transit and to follow reasonable instructions provided by the driver. Threatening, abusive, aggressive, disruptive, or unsafe behaviour toward the driver or other passengers will not be tolerated. Consuming alcohol, smoking, and vaping are not permitted in the shuttle.
- Kootenay Transit reserves the right to refuse transportation or remove a passenger from service when their behaviour poses a safety concern, significantly disrupts the service, or threatens the well-being of the driver or other passengers. Passengers who are refused transportation or removed from service due to their conduct may not be eligible for a refund or credit.
Vehicle Damage & Special Cleaning
- The customer accepts full responsibility for any vehicle damage, special cleaning, or loss of income resulting from the negligence or carelessness of the customer or any member of their group. This includes, but is not limited to, damage caused by burns, vomiting, scratches, stains, broken windows or mirrors, and any other damage requiring repair or special cleaning.
- The customer authorizes Kootenay Transit to charge any applicable repair, cleaning, or related expenses in addition to any amounts previously agreed upon. A minimum special cleaning fee of $350.00 applies. Additional cleaning or damage charges will be assessed based on the extent of the damage or cleaning required.
Lost & Found
- Kootenay Transit and its employees are not responsible for personal belongings left unattended in our vehicles. Lost items can be reported, and found items can be retrieved, by contacting us directly.
